New Penn State Abington – Abington Township Scholarship
Abington Township and Penn State Abington have partnered to offer a new scholarship for eligible township residents. Up to five (5) $5,000 scholarships will be awarded for 2016-17. The scholarship application deadline is June 1, 2016.
- Resident of Abington Township for a minimum of one year prior to application
- First year, transfer or current undergraduate Penn State Abington student enrolled at least half-time in a bachelor’s degree program (if enrolled half-time, scholarship amount would be half).
- 2.5 minimum high school GPA and 800 SAT (Reading & Math) for incoming, first year students or 2.5 minimum college GPA for transfer or current students
Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as indicated on FAFSA
Complete scholarship application form with a 200-250 word essay.
To apply, please complete the scholarship application (including essay) and submit to the Abington Township Manager by June 1. Awardees will be notified in early August.
These scholarships are available for full-time and part-time students. Students eligible for both the PTK and the Letter of Intent scholarships will receive the PTK scholarship (the higher amount). Some scholarships are renewable if the student maintains a certain GPA. Part-time students (with a minimum of six credits) are eligible for one half the scholarship amount.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
PTK Scholarships are available to students who have been members of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College. To be eligible, students should earn an Associate Degree and have a minimum 3.5 GPA (as calculated by Penn State and including any other institutions a PTK member has attended). In addition, Penn State waives the application fee for applicants who are members of PTK and who notify the Penn State Abington Admissions Office prior to submitting their online application.
PTK Scholarships are renewed for Penn State students maintaining a 3.3 GPA. Part-time students (with a minimum of six credits) are eligible for one half the scholarship amount. Students who have previously earned a Bachelor's degree are not eligible.
To be considered for the application fee waiver and/or the PTK Scholarship, a student should provide a photocopy of his or her PTK membership certificate to the Penn State Abington Admissions Office prior to submitting the application. To receive consideration, the suggested application deadline for Fall Semester is June 1; for Spring Semester is October 1; or for Summer Semester is February 1.
Letter of Intent Scholarship
Letter of Intent Scholarships are available to students who have completed an Associate Degree from a Bucks or Montgomery Community College (or Mercer Community College in the Business degree) with a 3.2 GPA (as calculated by Penn State, based on all colleges the student has attended), and who have signed the Letter of Intent prior to their earning 30 or more credits at all institutions they have attended. Letter of Intent Scholarships are renewed for Penn State Abington students maintaining a 3.3 GPA.
Letter of Intent students are eligible to be considered for an application fee waiver. To request the fee waiver, a students should contact the Penn State Abington Admissions Office prior to submitting the online application. Further information about the Letter of Intent is available:
