Partnership with Parents

Mission Statement

It is our mission to increase parent and family involvement, communicate regularly with parents of students, and forge a strong bond between parents and the University. Our intent is to provide a positive experience for parents, to encourage involvement and participation, and to secure on-going support for the University and its students holistically.

What is the Parents Program at Abington?

Our goal is to improve communications with parents and families of undergraduate students. We serve as your central contact for important information, campus updates, and activities in which we will ask for your volunteerism and support. Our program includes a website, contact information, a Facebook page, and a direct contact number to Whitney Keiter, Parent Outreach and Engagement Specialist.

We are your source for any questions that you may have in regards to your student’s undergraduate educational experience. We hope that you will not only encourage your student to be engaged on campus but that you will also become actively involved in the parents’ community at Abington. We give you the opportunity to interact and speak to other parents who have undergraduate students on campus by posting on our Parents’ Facebook page.

It is our commitment to keep you up-to-date on a monthly basis. We will issue a newsletter each month that will provide you with all types of information from parent volunteer opportunities to advice on helping your student succeed. We hope that you will reach out to us if you have any questions or want to become involved in volunteering or mentoring, or if you would like to help support Penn State Abington. Once again, on behalf of the Development Office, we look forward to getting to you know and your student and wish you best of the luck on this incredible journey!

What you can expect

It is our goal to keep you updated by sending monthly newsletters, updating our Parents Facebook page regularly, hosting podcasts each semester, hosting events for parents and students, and inviting you to volunteer your time and mentor students.
