Located within the Penn State Center Philadelphia, around the corner from Independence Hall in the heart of Old City, the Summer Design Experience offers a unique opportunity for high schoolers to learn about and practice design in one of America’s oldest cities and forward thinking design centers. Led by dedicated faculty, alumni, and undergraduate students from Penn State’s nationally ranked College of Arts and Architecture, our innovative summer program provides invaluable mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities for young designers.

During the Summer Design Experience, you will have the opportunity to explore Philadelphia’s rich design history through a series of tours, field trips and site visits. Using the facilities at the Penn State Center, try your hand at design and take part in hands-on building and model making activities. Immerse yourself in individual and collective creative design processes like those that take place in professional design programs alongside peers with similar interests. Build critical thinking and problem solving skills that will support lifelong success in the field of design.

This camp is a collaboration between Penn State University's Stuckeman School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Graphic Design, and The Penn State Center – Engaging Philadelphia, and Penn State Abington.

Please also note that all activities take place at the Penn State Center and in Center City, Philadelphia. There is no transportation to and from the Penn State Abington campus.
