Youth Police Academy

Are you interested in learning more about police work? Join us for special inside look at policing and the chance to become familiar with how police officers perform their duties. Students will get hands on experience with crime scene investigation, including how to process evidence and dust for and collect fingerprints. In addition, campers will learn about the different divisions of police work including Patrol, Detectives and Community Policing. Police officers from Abington and other local agencies will instruct the classes.

Topics include:

  • Police K-9 Demo
  • Crime Scene Investigations
  • SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics)
  • Accident Investigation

Grade Level: Entering Grades 6-10

Camp Fee and Registration

Early Registration before midnight April 11, 2018 – Fee:  $150

Lt. Kelly Warner and Staff from the Abington Township Police Department

Lt. Warner has been a police officer with the Abington Township Police Department for 28 years. During her career, she has worked in the Patrol and Detective Divisions. Additionally, she was a member of the elite Police Tactical Team, Crisis Negotiation Unit and the DARE Unit. She currently serves as the Community Policing Division Commander. She is also an adjunct professor with Penn State Abington. She believes that a strong community commitment, especially to youth, is vitally important to policing.
