Head into the Athletics Building, sign your Class of 2021 banner, grab some freebies, and take a seat for a brief welcome ceremony featuring academic leaders and the Student Government Association president. 


Start your college career in high gear!

Experts from Abington academic and Student Affairs teams will offer advice and resources on:

  • Preparing for your major from Library and Learning Center staff.
  • Upgrading your study skills with tips from the Library staff.
  • Planning for internships and jobs with the pros on staff in the Career & Professional Development Center.

Stand for State is Penn State's bystander intervention program that strengthens the community by creating a culture of caring on campus. You'll learn effective ways to look out for your classmates and raise your personal awareness of issues with sexual assault, relationship violence, mental health concerns, acts of bias and other concerns.

What is Opening Convocation and New Student Day?

Penn State Abington faculty, staff, and current students rally around the Class of 2021 during the traditional Opening Convocation and New Student Day on Friday, August 18.

New students meet their classmates and learn the ins and outs of life at Abington. A brief program marking the start of the academic year features a welcome from the chancellor and Student Government Association president. Then students break into groups for activities and lunch.
