Science and Engineering Day

Welcome Week Science and Engineering Day 2016

Remote robot connects engineering students, UMaine cohorts

Penn State Abington and Brandywine engineering majors used a mobile telepresence robot — an iPad attached to a self-balancing vehicle — to collaborate with students at the University of Maine.

Engineering Superheroes

Ellie Seber, Penn State Abington Engineering Club president, talks about an out of the classroom experience for the regional Rube Goldberg competition. The club designed and built a machine that opens an umbrella in at least 20 steps and a theme.

FIRST Tech Challenge program hosted in regional Philadelphia engineering suite

Eighty local students in grades seven through 12 spent their Saturday in Penn State’s recently constructed engineering suite, located at Penn State Great Valley in Malvern. The suite serves as a hub for the University’s regional undergraduate engineering program between Penn State Brandywine, Abington and Great Valley.

Penn State receives more than $129 million to lead energy team

Penn State researchers will receive $129 million over the next five years from several federal sources, including the Department of Energy, and an additional $30 million from Pennsylvania to develop ways to make buildings more energy efficient. The funds will create an Energy Innovation Hub at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, which will involve a substantial number of researchers from academe, the private sector and two national laboratories in a concerted effort to save energy, cut carbon pollution and position the United States at the forefront of the industry.
