Writing on walls and tables is frowned on in most public spaces, but the staff of the renovated Penn State Abington library views scribbles as signs of success.
Sponsored by Initiative in Health Humanities, SEAL, and Division of Humanities
All PSU Abington students are invited to submit creative work for the PSU Abington Student Arts Festival in Health Humanities: “THE HUMAN CONDITION: READINGS AND PERFORMANCES”. Present a dramatic scene, poetry, spoken word, short-short story, visual arts, comedy, videography, music, or dance on the following themes: the body (broken, beautiful, diverse); illness, injury, disability, and health (difficulties, possibilities, ambiguities); health care and health care relationships and encounters; health care providers (saints, sinners, heroes, and human beings); and any other theme in Health/Illness, Medicine, and the Body.
Please submit a few sentences describing your creative idea by Mon., Jan. 29, via email to [email protected] or [email protected]. Include your name, contact information, medium/genre, title of your piece, and brief description of the performance, art, or reading. Performances and readings must be no more than 5 minutes. Visual arts will be displayed in the venue and have no time limit. Most submissions that fit with the themes will be accepted. You need not be an expert in the medium or genre you choose: you are all experts on the condition of being human! Be a happy amateur, take a risk. Reflect. Create. Experiment. Celebrate.
Consult with your professors in theatre, creative writing, visual arts, or any class to see how you might obtain credit for your participation. Questions? Contact Wendy Horwitz [email protected] or Michelle Pauls [email protected] (faculty advisors), or Student Organizers, Lukemon Arzoi ([email protected]) and Ashley Hibbs ([email protected]).
YOU CAN ALSO JUST ATTEND AS AUDIENCE AND CHEER ON YOUR CLASSMATES!
