Parents & Families

Welcome Message

Dear Parents and Families,

My name is Whitney Keiter, Penn State '09. I am the new Parent Outreach and Engagement Specialist at Penn State Abington. We are thrilled to announce our newly established Parents’ and Family Program at Penn State Abington! I will be your point of contact for anything related to the program.

Our goals are to:

  1. foster communication
  2. keep you up-to-date with information
  3. request your support and volunteerism

The Parents’ Program has lots in store for you! From monthly newsletters, a Facebook page designed specifically for parents, and a parents’ section on Penn State Abington’s website, we welcome your input and we want you to get involved! You can find all in-depth information on our website. Or, like us on Facebook and connect with other parents at Abington.

We believe that parents and family members play a significant role in the student success equation. We value the unique partnership we have with parents and family members, and together with you, want to ensure that your student has the best possible experience while at Abington.

Now that you have a little background, I hope you are as excited as I am about the Parents’ Program. We will send helpful information to you several times a month, detailing ways you can help us by volunteering, supporting or mentoring students.

All our very best,
Whitney Keiter

PS: I attended a commonwealth campus before finishing my degree in Communications at University Park. It always meant so much to me to have the encouragement and involvement from my parents and family members while I was attending Penn State. Even though I am no longer a student, my parents still feel like they are a part of the Penn State parents’ community. It is important to us that you feel the same way!

She loved the smaller classroom sizes and approachable instructors and over-all had a wonderful experience attending a commonwealth campus.

Whitney began establishing the Parents’ Program in August 2016 and is thrilled to be a part of the Penn State Abington Development team. Whitney brings seven years of sales experience to the table, as well as an understanding of the fundraising and communications arena.
