The Museum Studies Certificate program is an interdisciplinary introduction to the theory and practice of activities that are central to successful museums, historic sites, and similar cultural institutions including
- Curatorial approaches
- Art education
- Public history
- Management
- Marketing
- Fund-raising and other critical areas.
The certificate’s structure provides students with advanced coursework while allowing for the flexibility to match their interests and career goals. It requires a minimum of 12 credits from a list of approved courses including an internship with a relevant business or organization.
The Museum Studies Certificate is open to Abington students in any major and may be particularly appealing to students pursuing degrees in American Studies, art, history, Integrative Arts, Multidisciplinary Studies, and Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management.
