Academic Merit Scholarships for Incoming First-Year Students

General Information

Scholarships range from $1,000 - $6,000, based upon high school GPA and SAT scores.

Scholarship consideration is given to students with a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and a combined minimum SAT score of 1000 (Reading and Math).  Students with high GPAs and strong SAT scores have an excellent chance of receiving scholarships.

No separate scholarship application is needed.

Students must submit an admission application with academic credentials by November 30 for priority scholarship consideration.

Students must enroll at Penn State Abington as degree-seeking, full-time students to be eligible.

First-year scholarship notifications are made by mid-February.

Abington Honors Scholarship

As an Honors Scholarship recipient, you are invited to join the prestigious Abington Honors Program. Honors students enroll in a distinctive curriculum of courses taught by our best faculty in small groups of 15 to 20 students.

Honors students also receive priority course registration, and many choose to participate in our ACURA program to perform hands-on undergraduate research in close collaboration with a faculty mentor.

Academic Achievement Scholarship

For students with high scholastic achievements. Scholarship is renewable for up to four years at Abington.

University Awards and Scholarships

Applicants offered admission are considered for other University awards and scholarships. Eligibility criteria may include financial need.

RaiseMe Scholarship

RaiseMe Scholarships are available for Pennsylvania high school students on the Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program. Students may earn up to $500 in a RaiseMe scholarship for high school achievements such as getting an A in a core course or being a leader of a high school organization.

Penn State Abington – Abington Township Scholarship

Scholarship Opportunity for Abington Residents

Abington Township and Penn State Abington have partnered to offer a scholarship for eligible township residents.  Up to five (5) $5,000 scholarships will be awarded for 2018-19.  The scholarship application deadline is May 1, 2018.

Eligibility Criteria:

Resident of Abington Township for a minimum of one year prior to application.

First year, transfer or current undergraduate Penn State Abington student enrolled at least half-time in a bachelor’s degree program (if enrolled half-time, scholarship amount would be half).

2.5 minimum high school GPA and 800 SAT (Reading & Math) for incoming, first-year students or 2.5 minimum college GPA for transfer or current students.

Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as indicated on FAFSA.

Complete scholarship application form with a 200-250 word essay.

To apply, please complete the scholarship application (including essay) and
submit to the Abington Township Manager by May 1.  Awardees will be notified
in June.

Scholarships for Select Majors

Academic Excellence Scholarship

For students accepted into the Abington 3+3 Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program partnership with Thomas Jefferson University.  Renewable for three years at Abington.  Includes participation in the Abington Honors Program.

Abington Art Major Scholarship

For students enrolled in the Art pre-major. Scholarship is renewable for four years at Abington. After their first year of study, students submit a portfolio for entrance into the Art major and for additional scholarship consideration.
