During my time as a PSS student, I attended six national conferences to present research, traveled abroad twice, interned for Proctor & Gamble, and took countless classes that covered important and relevent information in an entertaining way. Thanks to the help and support of the PSS faculty I received multiple offers to attend graduate programs across the country immediately after graduation. Many of my fellow students who graduated from Penn State Abington with a PSS degree have similar success stories. They attribute their ability to move onto graduate school or immediately find a job in the field to the impressive faculty who make the PSS program so amazing. I speak confidently when I say that we are all very thankful for the opportunities that were provided to us through the PSS program.
Attending Penn State Abington has been the best decision I've made to date. The entire Psychology department at my time of study was extremely helpful and supportive of my journey. I am convinced that I would not be the ethical professional I am today if it weren't for Dr. Newman. I would not have the research experience and the scholarly sense of humor if it weren't for Dr. Bernstein and Dr. Benfield. I also would not have the confidence in this field if it weren't for Dr. Sessa and Dr. Montemurro. I am way more than proud to be a PSS alum -- I am honored."
Dr. Newman was one of the first professors I had at Penn State Abington when I returned to school as a non-traditional student. Dr. Newman's passion for teaching was obvious in my first class. She engaged every student and kept not only that first class, but every class thereafter. It is because of this first class with Dr. Newman that I developed a strong interest in human development and found the coursework and networking opportunities that Penn State provided a solid foundation that effectively prepared me for graduate school. I'm now working with children and their families as a clinical psychologist and owe so much of my success to Dr. Newman and the faculty within the PSS program.
My experience with the Psych department in general was amazing. I had a great advisor in Dr. Bernstein who was supportive and helped drive me! I also had an awesome professor and mentor in Dr. Benfield who always pushed me to do be a better scientist and a deeper thinker. Dr. Sessa gave me the tools I needed to be a great counselor.
