Biography
Emily Steinberg is a multi-disciplinary artist with a focus on painting and visual narrative. Her work has been shown across the United States and Europe. Her story Paused is included in the Eisner awarded anthology Menopause: A Comic Treatment, 2021. Her work has been published by The New Yorker Magazine, Cleaver Magazine and have been included or cited in numerous anthologies and academic journals. In 2019 she became Visual Narrative Editor at Cleaver Magazine and now curates submissions. From 2019-2024 Steinberg served as Artist in Residence at Drexel College of Medicine, teaching visual narrative to medical students. Steinberg teaches visual narrative and The History of American Comics at Penn State University, Abington College.
Steinberg’s work, an ongoing autobiographical and societal narrative inspired by personal life experience, history, art history, current events and the swirling zeitgeist, aims to record and transmit the visceral experience of being human.
