Status update on Abington, Brandywine and Great Valley campuses

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — With Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s March 25 “Stay at Home” order, Penn State is updating the status of its Abington, Brandywine and Great Valley campuses.

This new order supersedes the previous order on March 12 that effectively closed the three campuses. With the governor’s new order, this means that HRG10, the University’s policy governing weather-related absences and closedowns, is no longer in effect.

The health, safety and well-being of all Penn Staters and surrounding local communities remain the University’s number one priority.

As individuals adhere to the “stay at home” order to help stem the spread of the coronavirus, the majority of the three campuses’ staff and faculty members will continue to work from home.

Pennsylvania Education Secretary Pedro Rivera has offered the following guidance on some limited exceptions: “Under Governor Wolf’s order, personnel at our postsecondary institutions in all 67 counties who are providing life-sustaining services, including, but not limited to: administration, food preparation and distribution, housing, security, information technology, building maintenance, and operations (e.g., payroll) can continue to be deemed essential and are permitted to continue their work, provided they adhere to social distancing guidelines.”

Campus employees who have questions on the updated guidance should check with their supervisors.
