Today (June 20) in the Capitol Rotunda, Penn State announced the awarding of six additional $50,000 seed grants to jump start entrepreneurial activities across the Commonwealth and celebrate its 13 newly launched entrepreneurship programs in Pennsylvania that are expected to spur economic development, job creation and student career success.
Penn State Abington LaunchBox at the Abington Art Center intentionally blurs the boundaries between analog and digital, art and science, traditional and experimental. Computers, laser and vinyl cutters, and 3D printers live side-by-side with sewing machines, saws, and tools of all description.
Penn State students had a chance to talk with President Eric Barron about issues that matter to them and provide feedback about the president’s vision for the University during a 90-minute University Town Hall hosted March 16 by student government organizations at the Hintz Alumni Center. More than 100 students attended in person or online, bringing issues including affordability, access and entrepreneurship to the fore.
In the weeks leading up to his official appointment on May 12, Eric Barron and Penn State’s first lady, Molly Barron, have crisscrossed the Commonwealth, hearing from students, faculty, staff and community leaders at Penn State’s campuses. In every case, Barron said, he has been struck by the commitment to excellence in education, to student success and to the surrounding community.
