Do you love stories of boys and girls who discover that they have strange and wonderful powers? Do you love books like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Twilight, and Lord of the Rings? Do you dream up strange, exotic, and exciting lands? Learn to make your fantasies take flight as you hone your writing skills with this fantasy writing workshop!

Over the course of the week we will be discovering new and exciting ways to bring your dreams to life. To top everything off, we will end our week with the creation of your very own fantasy story!

This camp focuses on:

  • Developing writing skills with a deeper understanding of the fantasy genre
  • Crafting a storyline, developing characters and creatures, descriptive writing, creating maps, and much more!
  • Creating your very own fantasy story by the end of the week

Jon Hunt

This is Jon’s 11th year working at Penn State Abington’s Summer Camps.  He graduated from La Salle University in 2004 and got his M.A. in English from Villanova in 2009.  Jon currently works at Abington Senior High School, wrapping up his 14th year of teaching 11th grade English.  In his spare time, he loves to run, bike, and write.  Fun Fact: Jon’s built 8 schools in such countries as Nicaragua, Haiti, Mali, and Senegal.
