Robotics

This program is for students who are ready to take their scientific and robotic interest to the next level and truly understand the science that goes into robotics. In this Robotics program, campers will participate in science-focused experiments involving heat, energy, temperature, force, motion, and light.  Students will become more knowledgeable about: the Lego Robotics EV3 Mindstorms software, physical science and engineering principles, Beebots, and coding. And as our students learn, they will also be honing their ability to reach a goal in a team setting. 

This camp focuses on:

  • Developing and elevating skills in building and programing robots using EV3 Lego Mindstorms System and Beebots
  • Working independently and in teams to foster cooperation and teamwork 
  • Using imaginative thought and critical thinking skills to solve complex problems

Meet Your Instructor:

Samuel Gonzalez

Sam Gonzalez is a recent graduate of Penn State in their Elementary & Early Childhood Education program. He also holds a certification in teaching English as a Second Language. This fall, Sam will begin his Masters program to earn a Reading Specialist degree while continuing to teach full-time. He is a proud founder of the "Lions Read Initiative," which works with teachers to support students who need extra attention by reinforcing lessons in small groups or in an individualized setting. Sam has also taught in the Abington School District since October of 2019, and completed his student teaching service at Overlook Elementary. He is very excited to be teaching at Penn State Abington's Kids & Teen College this summer!
