Spring 2025: Advanced Business Intelligence for Afro-Caribbean Culture (VR Embedded)
Developing a successful career path in today’s economy requires business intelligence – the use of analytics to support critical decision-making that will optimize performance.
This faculty led advanced business intelligence course (MIS445 embedded), students will include a captivating nine-day journey through the Caribbean over spring break 2025. Students will explore historic sites and local markets and attend cultural performances to enhance their understanding and application of advanced business intelligence techniques, research methodologies, and virtual reality in the travel industry.
This experience aims to foster cultural sensitivity, inclusive practices, and broader educational perspectives while contributing to the completion of course requirements. It was designed to integrate with Afro-Caribbean culture and diversity, equity, and inclusion principles beginning on St. Kitts and then venturing by ferry and airplane to the islands of Nevis, Antigua, and Barbuda.
Travel Itinerary (subject to change)
- Day 1: Depart Abington and arrive in St. Kitts for a welcome dinner
- Day 2: Day trip to Nevis via ferry to explore historic sites.
- Day 3: Fly to Antigua for a free day
- Day 4: Ferry to Barbuda for a free day
- Day 5: Activities and return to Antigua by ferry
- Days 6 and 7: Explore Antigua’s history and culture
- Day 8: Depart from Antigua for Abington
Expenses
The estimated cost is between $3,800 and $5,200 and will be charged to your bursar account.
The course fee includes all ground transportation to/from the airports and all transportation within the islands, airfares, hotels, guided tours, and daily breakfast. Cost does NOT include lunches, some dinners, and optional tours or free time activities.

Travel Documents
A valid passport is required for international travel. Non-U.S. citizens may require a visa in addition to their passport. Non-U.S. citizens should consult their embassy for information and may ask the Office of Global Programs for guidance.
